Community Mission Worker (Poverty Truth Commission Facilitator)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of 
  Community Mission Worker (Poverty Truth Commission Facilitator) 
  37.5 hours per week 
  within South West Tyneside Methodist Circuit.  

We are looking for someone who is keen to support the community work of the Methodist Churches in West Gateshead in responding to local needs and issues and has a passion for mission, community involvement and social justice.  There is a genuine occupational requirement (GOR) that the post holder is a practising Christian. 
The successful candidate will have gifts in communication, pastoral care, working with volunteers, organisation and working with external agencies. 
The post is for 37.5 hours per week and has two main elements: to support and help run a variety of community projects across the South West Tyneside Methodist Circuit as part of the Missional outreach of the Circuit.  These include; a weekly Soup Lunch, Holiday Hunger programmes, Community Lunches, a Refugee Project and Domestic Abuse Support Group.
The successful candidate will also help to establish, lead and facilitate a Poverty Truth Commission for the West of Gateshead giving a voice to those experiencing poverty in our communities.  
The successful candidate must be able to be flexible as the hours will include some evening and weekend work to attend meetings and regular activities.  
Salary is £21,000 pa.
