Strathmore Road Methodist Church (Rowlands Gill)

Strathmore Road Methodist Church is a lively, caring and family friendly community of Christians who are seeking to live out their faith by being good news in the local area, helping all ages to encounter God in worship and to become disciples of Jesus. The church meets on two sites in the heart of Rowlands Gill and Chopwell and serves the wider community of the Derwent Valley.

We are a group of ordinary people who believe that church is a great place to make friends and experience God together. We are a family who believe that church should not only be great fun but also a place where lives are radically transformed.

Visit the church website for more detailed information.

WORSHIP

Sunday morning worship at Strathmore Road Methodist Church starts at 10.45 am. The services are inclusive and family friendly with areas for babies and children and a thriving Sunday Club for young people. We have sung worship led by our band and preachers from the South West Tyneside Methodist Circuit

On a typical Sunday, our children join us for the first part of the service, then leave to join their groups. We have ‘Bubbles’ for toddlers to 5 and ‘xstream’ for 6-18.  Once a month we have ‘Forest Church’ where we meet outside around a campfire with marshmallows and hot chocolate and use our beautiful church garden to connect with God. Babies are welcome in our service, and we have a sensory area for them to enjoy in the worship area.

The Sunday evening service at Strathmore Road takes place weekly at 6.00 pm and lasts about an hour. The worship usually follows ‘traditional lines’ with hymns from Singing the Faith normally accompanied by the organ.

You will be made to feel very welcome so why not come along and experience it for yourself?

For us, church carries on through the week.

We have a range of groups and opportunities from discipleship groups to drama club. Justice is a huge part of our mission and there are a number of opportunities to engage with refugees, young people, Warm Spaces, Eco issues and food waste. We partner with other organisations and churches to reach out and support our local community. We also offer a number of weekly groups for children and young people.

You can find out more about our specific groups on our website here.
